Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use Vently:

• Account Information: Name, email address, and profile data provided through Clerk authentication (Google or Apple SSO).
• Conversation Data: Text messages and voice transcriptions from your venting sessions.
• Usage Data: Credit usage, session frequency, persona preferences, and feature interactions.
• Technical Data: Browser type, device information, and IP address for security purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Provide and improve the Vently service.
• Maintain conversation memory to deliver continuity across sessions.
• Process billing and manage your subscription.
• Send important service notifications (not marketing).
• Detect and prevent abuse or fraud.

We do not use your conversation data to train AI models. Your venting sessions are yours alone.

3. Data Storage

Account authentication is handled by Clerk, a SOC 2 compliant identity provider. Conversation data and user records are stored in Supabase PostgreSQL with row-level security enabled. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States.

4. Voice Data Handling

When you use voice mode, your audio is processed by OpenAI Whisper for speech-to-text transcription and ElevenLabs for text-to-speech responses. Audio data is transmitted securely and is not stored by Vently after transcription is complete. The resulting text transcription is treated the same as text chat data.

5. Memory & Conversation Data

Vently stores conversation memories to provide context-aware responses in future sessions. Memories are plain text summaries stored per user. You can view and delete individual memories from your dashboard settings. When you delete a memory, it is permanently removed from our database.

6. Incognito Mode

When Incognito Mode is enabled, Vently does not store any conversation data, memories, or session history. Once the session ends, all associated data is discarded. Incognito sessions still consume credits but leave no data footprint.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• AI Providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) to process your conversations. These providers process data under strict data processing agreements.
• Clerk for authentication services.
• Stripe for payment processing. We never store your full credit card details.
• Law enforcement only when legally required by valid legal process.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data we store about you from your dashboard settings.
• Delete: Request deletion of your account and all associated data. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
• Export: Download your conversation history and account data in a portable format.
• Correct: Update your account information at any time through your profile settings.

9. Cookies

Vently uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Clerk may set authentication-related cookies as part of the sign-in process. No third-party analytics cookies are used.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of Vently after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
